Everything you need to know for healthy growth of Dionaea Muscipula.
Sunlight Requirements
Venus flytraps need plenty of direct sunlight to grow strongly and develop vibrant trap coloration.
Watering
Use rainwater, distilled water, or reverse osmosis water with low mineral content.
Substrate
They thrive in a nutrient-poor, airy mix of peat moss and perlite, with no regular soil.
Humidity
High humidity is not essential — proper light and correct watering are far more important.
Winter Dormancy
During winter, plants enter dormancy, which is essential for long-term health and growth.
Flowering
Flowering can weaken the plant, so removing the flower stalk is often recommended for younger or weaker plants.

Why I’m Temporarily Suspending Shipping to the EU
Due to new regulatory requirements, I have temporarily suspended shipping outside the Czech Republic. For a small business like mine, the additional costs and administration have become increasingly difficult to justify. I’m now reviewing the rules country by country and hope to restore at least some EU shipping soon.

Sowing Time: Giving the Seeds Their Start
Fresh Venus flytrap (Dionaea muscipula) seeds don't need cold stratification to germinate successfully. Follow my step-by-step sowing method, from preparing the substrate to caring for young seedlings during their first months of growth.

Harvest Time: The Next Generation of Venus Flytraps Begins
The flowers have long faded, the seed pods have turned dark and another exciting chapter of the growing season has arrived. Harvesting Venus flytrap seeds is always one of my favorite moments of the year, because every tiny black seed holds the potential for something completely unique.
