Starting Autumn Season with Tea Time in the Greenhouse

Starting Autumn Season with Tea Time in the Greenhouse

Published on 23.09.2025

The first day of autumn always feels like a turning point. One moment we were sweating in 30 °C heat, the next the thermometer dropped to just 10 °C by evening. That’s too much of a shock for jacuzzi nights, so like every year, my boyfriend and I opened our greenhouse tea time season.

From Summer Heat to Autumn Chill

This sudden shift from blazing summer afternoons to chilly autumn evenings came almost overnight. The air is crisp, the sun sets earlier, and while the house cools quickly, the greenhouse holds on to just enough warmth. In the evenings, it still lingers between 15–20 °C — the perfect cozy middle ground.

Plants, Tea, and Conversation

So we moved our evenings back into the greenhouse, as we do every autumn. Surrounded by Venus flytraps, Sarracenia, Drosera, Heliamphora, Pinquicula, Utricularia and all the plants that kept me busy through summer, we bring in steaming cups of tea, sit down, and just talk.

The greenhouse feels alive even at night: the rustle of leaves, the faint smell of moss and soil, the traps still open waiting for one last fly. It’s like having tea in the middle of a secret garden.

A Seasonal Tradition

Summer is all about growth, heat, and long days in the sun. Autumn shifts the mood — slower, calmer, a time for reflection. Greenhouse tea time has become our tradition to enjoy the season without missing the connection to our plants, my carnivorous plants!

Instead of bubbles in the jacuzzi, we get steam rising from teacups. Instead of stars overhead, we sit under the greenhouse roof, warm enough to relax, close enough to nature to feel grounded.

Closing Thoughts

Sometimes the best rituals are the ones you repeat year after year. For us, tea time in the greenhouse marks the start of autumn: talking, laughing, and sipping tea in the glow of our plants.

Stay snappy 🌱
