Christmas in the Greenhouse: A Moment to Slow Down and Say Thank You

A Quiet Pause at the End of the Season

Christmas is one of the few moments in the year when everything naturally slows down — and honestly, the greenhouse does too. The Venus flytraps are resting, growth has paused, and the rush of the growing season is finally behind us. It’s the perfect time to stop for a moment, look back, and simply say thank you.

Thank you to everyone who follows my journey, supports my work, orders plants, shares advice, photos, and the same strange obsession with Dionaea Muscipula. This small big and incredibly passionate carnivorous plant community means more to me than I can properly put into words.

One Gift That Started Everything

There’s one person I need to thank in a very special way — my boyfriend. He’s the one who bought me my very first Venus flytrap. That single plant changed everything.

Without it, there would be no greenhouse full of Dionaeas, no experiments, no late-night repotting sessions, no winter panic about heating, and no website you’re reading right now. One small gift turned into a long-term passion, years of learning, and a collection that keeps growing season after season. Sometimes it still amazes me how something so small can start something so big.

Another Year of Learning

This year, like every growing season, came with its own mix of successes and failures. There were strong plants, beautiful traps, experiments that worked — and experiments that absolutely didn’t.

There was dormancy stress, winter temperature watching, moments of excitement, moments of frustration, and a lot of learning along the way. That’s just part of growing Venus flytraps. You never really “finish” learning — you just get a little better each year. And that’s exactly why I love it.

Christmas Wishes From My Greenhouse

I wish all growers, collectors, and plant lovers peaceful Christmas days, healthy plants, and a strong start to the next growing season. May your Venus flytraps rest well through winter dormancy and wake up even stronger when spring comes back.

Thank you for being here, for reading, for supporting my work, and for sharing this passion all around.

Merry Christmas from my greenhouse to yours. 🎄🌿

Stay snappy,
— Peter 🌱
